Dental Exams
A dental exam is a careful check of your teeth, gums and mouth that helps spot problems early, while they are usually simpler to treat. At Sam's Smile Dental in Humble, regular exams are the foundation of the care we provide.
What We Look For
During an exam we check far more than cavities. A typical visit includes:
- Teeth — signs of decay, worn or cracked teeth, and the condition of existing fillings and crowns.
- Gums — bleeding, swelling or pockets that can point to gum disease.
- Bite and jaw — how your teeth come together and any jaw discomfort.
- Soft tissues — the tongue, cheeks and throat, as part of an oral cancer screening.
How Often to Come In
Many people do well with an exam every six months, often paired with a cleaning, though some need visits more often. We will recommend a schedule based on your own mouth and history. If it has been a while since your last exam, call our office and we will help you get back on track.
